i’m back, baby!

Welp, it’s time I make my way back into this world of documenting my every move…

We just listened to the entire Justin Timberlake album, The 20/20 Experience and well, I think he threw the last track on there just for me and my indie soul. But, this isn’t what I came back to say.

I came back because, my partner in crime – the work wife is leaving our office today. Kate and I have worked closely together at our nine to five for the past 3 years and today, we will part ways in the professional world. BUT we have some exciting things in line for our future… The first step in our adventure has been released today on her blog, Fashionably Kate. This past weekend, we stepped out of the office and ventured around town on a little photo shoot to capture her sense of style for the blog. And with my photos on the internet, I thought it might be time for me to come back to the virtual world. Here are a few of my favorites from Saturday…

So, click on over to her blog to see how she put together 4 great GREEN outfits for St. Patrick’s Day Week.

PS. This might be my first time photographing a person. Shhhh… don’t tell. :)

My first dye: purple ombré.

I’m 28 years old and just dyed my hair for the first time a month ago. No, I wasn’t going grey, I just did it because I woke up one day and I thought, “yeah, purple hair sounds cool.” After consulting with my brothers fiancé, I called and made the appointment. My virgin hair was going purple ombré. After 4 hours in the chair, this is what it looked like:

The color has faded since. I thought about going back in to touch it up and strip a few chunks with bleach to highlight with an in-your-face grape purple, but I decided to keep my locks as healthy as possible. What do you think? Should I go for more?

tuesday shoesday: classic t-strap flats.

Who wouldn’t love stepping back into the 20s with these fabulous t-strap ballet flats from Marais? At first glance, I thought they just had your normal polka dots but when I looked closer, I saw the polka dots were more than dots – they are gold studs! Eeep. Super cute. So, let’s pretend I just added these to my closet…

Tuesday Shoesday: Hearts = Happy Feet

So, I’ve been oooOing and Aaaahing over these crochet Toms for months now through the repins on pinterest and they are finally back up at the Toms store and with color options! The birthday is right around the corner and luckily, I already know that these baby’s will be mine! Eeeep! Just in time for summer!

Anyway, this brings me to why I’m in love with these shoes I found while browsing TopShop. These lovely Valentina Heart Ballet Pumps in white are to die for. (Can you hear me oooOing and Aaaahing?) I want them. They are the more sophisticated version of those jelly shoes we all had growing up. You know the ones, where stones would get stuck in the bottom of them. The heart cutouts allow your feet to breathe happy while looking chic. And for only $36, I might have to buy a pair.

Wouldn’t these be great ballet flats for a wedding reception? They also come in mint, lilac and apricot.

Tuesday Shoesday: Colorblocking

Colorblocking still seems to be a hot fashion trend that is carrying over into 2012. So, I decided to see what the shoe scene is doing with the trend. The designs I find myself drawn to the most are done by the fabulous and stunning, Jessica Simpson. Doesn’t she look amazing in this photo?

She knows how to do heels and it seems that she is the expert at bringing the colorblocking trend down to our toes. Here are a few of my favorites from her line.
 1. Shavon by Jessica Simpson in Ultra Violet
2. Estas by Jessica Simpson in Blue Violet
3. Evangel by Jessica Simpson in Bermuda Pink
4. Halie Polka Dot by Jessica Simpson in Nude

Excuses, excuses…

I’m finally finding an excuse to wear this fantastic BCBG Max Azria dress I picked up from Macy’s a few years back. I bought it the week I thought (knew) Steve was going to pop the question. We were planning a dinner on our anniversary at a fancy dancy restaurant in Ann Arbor when a snow storm hit. So, he ended up asking me to spend my life with him in the comfort of our living room. Anyway, I didn’t have a chance to wear this pretty purple dress until recently.

Oh, and I got these SWEET Marc Fisher shoes to go with it. I can’t tell you how many compliments I’ve gotten on these heels.

I can see clearly now…

Remember the fabulous wrist art by Mistura I found at the Black Swamp Arts Festival a few years back? It was a beautifully handcrafted wood watch with a yellow leather strap. If you want to see more, click here. Anyway, while sitting on the couch on this lazy afternoon and finding a reason to daydream about traveling, I somehow found these stunning wood-framed sunglasses that are handmade in Portland, Oregon. Whew, these Shwood specs are beautiful and are now on my wish list. Below are some of my favorites.

They even collaborated with Pendleton, a local fiber company on a design and carrying bag. See the video below to hear about their process.

tuesday shoesday: custom colors!

Eeeeeep! Do you know how much I love funky colorful sneakers? (I never call them sneakers, just shoes).

The New Balance US574 is customizable from the tongue to the laces. They even allow you to embroider something on the heel of each shoe. So, now you can have a tennie for every outfit you own. Who cares if you were them with dress pants? Click here to build your own for $114.95. (Totally worth it.) And, they are made right here in the USA!

tuesday shoesday: sperry + water = love.

Nothing goes better with a ton of water than a pair of Sperry’s. Steve and I just got back from the Florida Keys a few weeks back and were welcomed home with rain. It’s been raining non-stop here in Ohio and we are only steps away from December. Where’s the snow?! Anyway, whether you’re surrounded by the ocean, lake, river or water from the sky, Sperry is the way to go. Click on the photos to be redirected to see more or purchase the shoe. Here are a few of my favorites…

tuesday shoesday: pointy is back

If you haven’t heard, pointy shoes have made their way back into fashion. They are always acceptable, but now they are “in” again. I found these perfect pointed ballerina flats with a structured bow on top. The caramel color screams fall. Couldn’t you see these with a dark skinny jean? And, they are affordable at a price of $44.93.
