I think it’s time that I share the odd love I have for artist, Miranda July. She first captured my heart with You and Me and Everyone We Know, in which she directed and also played a major role. If you haven’t seen the movie and you love awkward moments, you must add it to your list. Below is the movie trailer.
Then I somehow discovered a website, The Thing Quarterly. It’s a quarterly project that an artist, writer, musician or filmmaker participates in. With this project they create useful objects. You can purchase a subscription to receive a years worth of things but will not know what it is until it appears on your doorstep. Miranda July contributed to this project in the first issue of The Thing Quarterly. See below for her submission.
Another shade read, “If this shade is down, I’m not who you think I am.”
After these projects, I put her on my radar. In 2007, I was counting down the days to the release of her book, “No one belongs here more than you.” Again, it was love. How could I not fall in lust with the neon book cover with the simple san serif font? I have the orange one.
I knew she had more projects in the works since I’ve recently started following her Facebook page. Today, I came across A Handy Tip for the Easily Distracted, her contribution to NOWNESS, daily exclusives for you to love. Please watch and fall in love.
The Future is also on my list of things to see:
She is brilliant. Read more about her here and here.
